Frequent Questions

Q: Can my child play High School Volleyball and Rec at the same time?
A: In the Fall, No. Their seasons overlap and it is against City policy. In the Spring, yes, as there is no City volleyball league in the Spring.

Q: When will I be notified about what team my child is on and when practices will be held?
A: The sooner you sign up, the better. All families should be notified within 2 weeks of when practices begin.

Q: When will practice start?
A: Practices begin the first week of school in the Fall, and April in the Spring.

Q: How are players assigned to teams?
A: If your child has played before, be sure to write the coaches/team’s name down when registering. We will do our best to have your child on the same team as before unless they are moving up into another age range. Please note if your child wants to play up into an older division. If new, they are placed into a blind draft.

Q: When will games begin?
A: Games usually begin 2/3 weeks after practice begins. The Spring season varies, but the Fall games usually run from the middle of September until mid-November.

Q: Can my child play on the same team with a friend?
A: We do our best to make this happen, but there are no guarantees.

Q: I would like to coach. How do I get a team?
A:  Please email [email protected] explaining what age range you would like to coach. We are always looking for new coaches and assistant coaches. We appreciate any help you can offer. No experience is necessary, training will be provided.

Q: What league will my child play in?
A: Unless you state otherwise at registration (children can play up in divisions, but not down), your child will be placed in the appropriate age range. We have recently begun co-ed in all divisions as well.

Q: When/where are the games?
A: Every season the game places and play dates change. In the Spring we normally play at Brookwood Elementary, Landstown, and Lynnhaven Middle School. In the Fall, the city schedules at various middle schools.

If you have questions, please email the KGLRA Volleyball Coordinator at [email protected].
